New Work
Re-formation (Tamed) 2010
In this battle ground between man and nature, it is not clear who is winning, or whether joint destruction is inevitable. There is hope, a leaf of new growth from the crumbling ruins. A sense of history evident through architectural features; as a church the stone has watched over worship, belief, people, community, celebration, grief, prayer and grandeur. It has been tamer through the unseen bonds of religion, reigning mans primal desires. Yet it is part of a much longer story to which it now attempts to return, remembering the mountains and rivers of forgotten landscapes within its core. The water washed shapes and forms represent a transition back to nature who is able to see further into the past than we can remember and further into the future than we will survive.
